hello and welcome

We are broadcasting the match between Leicester Tigers and Clermont Auvergne in the Champions Cup live.

Steve Borthwick made eight changes for the Tigers side who beat the Ospreys away in the European opening.

Dan Cole returns to the Leicester XV and becomes the 36th player in Leicester history to appear in 300 senior club appearances, while Jasper Wiese starts at number 8.

Hanro Liebenberg captains Leicester at home in a European fixture for the first time, with assistant captains Julián Montoya and Ben Youngs.

Borthwick, who is a strong favorite to replace Eddie Jones as England head coach, failed to offer any clarity about his future.

The 43-year-old served as striker coach for both Japan and England between 2012 and 2020 under Jones before leading the Tigers to the Gallagher Premiership title last season.

Faced with further questioning about his plans, Borthwick insisted his only focus is on preparing for the Champions Cup match against Clermont Auvergne at Welford Road on Saturday.

When asked if he could keep himself out of the fray for the England role, he replied, “I know I’ll be coaching here against Clermont on Saturday this weekend.”

“And that’s what I’m working on. I would love to give you the clarity of everything going forward. Unfortunately I can’t.

“All I do for me is focus on giving the best for this team and these players that I value so much. I will try to coach them to the best of my ability.”

Leicester and Clermont faced each other twice in last season’s Champions Cup, with the Tigers winning home and away to reach the quarterfinals.

Clermont beat South Africa’s Stormers 24-14 in France, with both teams entering the game by winning their opening games.

Before the match, we will have team news and backgrounds for you and regular updates throughout the match, which will start at 3:15 PM.
