As the world is awash with new resolutions and goals in 2023, TV series will also change things up with exciting new stories and scandals.
After a busy Christmas season that saw the debut of Danny Dyer and the shocking revelation that a 12-year-old is pregnant. EastEndersas well as the return of long-lost relatives Coronation Street and EmmerdaleYou can expect 2023 to be a bomb year on the screen.
Here is our (spoiler-filled) guide to this year’s soaps…
EastEnders
It will be another exciting year at Walford as Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) tries to rebuild her life alone after her husband Mick (Dyer) goes missing.
Pregnant Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) will find her relationship with Zack Hudson (James Farrar), the father of her estranged child, tested by a number of factors, including new and old faces.
Another pregnancy is on the scene, this time the shock pregnancy of 12-year-old Lily Slater (Lilia Turner), which was announced on New Year’s Eve. This will test Martin Fowler (James Bye) and his mom, Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner).
Parents Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) also struggle as their teenage daughter Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) continues to suffer from mental health issues.
While Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) lives with an incurable cancer, she spends the last months with her partner Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick), embarks on a final journey and forges bonds with her long-lost mother, Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit).
After Keanu Taylor (Chris Klenshaw) returns to Albert Square in December, he’ll want to get his son Albie back while potentially reigniting sparks with Sharon (Letitia Dean).
Coronation Street
Young actors (called the “brat pack” of the series) will be starring. Corrie This year, there are many exciting stories around.
The controversial 2022 story that sees Max Turner (Paddy Vever) transformed into a far-right gang reaches its climax in early 2023, with Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) in “mortal danger”.
Max will then attempt to reintegrate with his family after being “charged” and ejected.
After Jacob Hay (James Ryan) reconnects with his estranged father, Damon (Ciaran Griffiths), the 16-year-old finds himself embroiled in his father’s drug trafficking schemes.
There’s also a suggestion that Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), who killed Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) last year, might strike again.
In a more lighthearted plot, newly engaged Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) will want to get married in 2023.
Emmerdale
Following the death of Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) last year, Emmerdale The family will try to reunite themselves in 2023.
However, the arrival of the Dingle family’s long-lost brother, Caleb (William Ash), gets him in trouble as he tries to regain his family’s trust.
For Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt), recently revealed information about the relationship of his wife, Chas (Lucy Pargeter), will keep the two at odds.
Another relationship drama is underway for engaged couple Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) while Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) is secretly pregnant with Mackenzie’s child.
The town’s B&B also got a makeover, bringing with it two new owners who had to spice up the drama.
