More than that in 2023 please!
Now that we’ve all reluctantly returned to work after the festive season, many of us are already looking forward to our next vacation.
King III.
However, if you want to maximize your leave in 2023, you can get 48 days off for the price of 19 by cleverly booking annual leave around national holidays this year.
Yes, indeed – there is an annual leave reservation trick that is super simple to follow and seriously pays off.
The trick works for people working Monday through Friday in England and Wales – here’s how to do it for yourself.
First off, when will the 2023 public holidays be:
UK Public Holidays 2023
Monday, January 2 – New Year’s Eve
Friday, April 7 – Good Friday
Monday, April 10 – Easter Monday
Monday, May 1 – Bank holiday in early May
Monday, May 8 – The King’s coronation public holiday
Monday, May 29 – Spring public holiday
Monday, August 28 – Summer public holiday
Monday, December 25 – Christmas Day
Tuesday, December 26 – Next Day
When will annual leave registration be made in 2023?
Easter
Real days away from work: 10 (April 1-10)
Reserved annual leave days: 4
10 days off for the price of four? We will take it.
First, book four days off until Good Friday’s Public Holiday.
You’ll get two days of weekend leave, the four days of annual leave you’ve booked, and then a four-day weekend thanks to Good Friday and Easter Monday.
Early May Public Holiday/The coronation of King Charles
Real days away from work: 10 (29 April – 8 May)
Reserved annual leave days: 4
Book four days off between May 2 and May 5, using the same format as Easter. Before the Early Public Holiday you’ll have the weekend off, four days of annual leave followed by a three-day weekend – here’s the price of four ten days off.
end of May/June
Real days away from work: 9 (27 May – 4 June)
Reserved annual leave days: 4
The third Public Holiday in May falls on Monday, 29. By booking 1 and 2 June, as well as 30 and 31 May, you will enjoy a nine-day vacation using the previous weekend’s leave and four days’ leave.
August
Real days away from work: 9 (26 August-3 September)
Reserved annual leave days: 4
Using the form of annual leave reservation you made for the end of May, add four days of annual leave after the Bank Holiday in August and you get yourself another nine days off.
Christmas
Real days away from work: 10 (23 December-1 January)
Reserved annual leave days: 3
Yep, 10 days off in a row for the sake of booking three days of annual leave – a Christmas miracle some might say.
All thanks to the arrival of Christmas this year. Christmas Day 2023 is Monday, and the Day After Christmas lands on Tuesday. It’s also coming Monday, January 1st – giving us plenty of opportunities to be smart about annual leave.
By making a reservation for work leave from Wednesday, December 27 to Friday, December 29, you will enjoy an uninterrupted ten-day holiday from Saturday, December 23 to Monday, January 1st.
