Man accused of killing beautician in shooting at bar on Christmas Eve

A man is accused of killing cosmetologist Elle Edwards, who was fatally shot in a bar on Christmas Eve.

Connor Chapman, 22, was also charged by detectives twice with attempted murder and three times with unlawful and malicious injury with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Mr Chapman of Houghton Road, Woodchurch was also charged with possession of a firearm with the intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition with the intent to endanger life and using stolen property, namely a Mercedes A-Class.

The suspect was detained on Friday 13 January pending trial at the Wirral Adult Detention Court, Merseyside Police announced early Friday morning.

Authorities also said that a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of aiding a criminal and has been released on bail pending further investigation.

Mrs Edwards was shot in the head shortly before midnight on 24 December while celebrating with her friends at the Lighthouse pub in Wirral, Wallasey Village. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

While the 26-year-old is not thought to have been the target of the shooting, which injured four others, police said the investigation is ongoing.

Mrs Edwards died after several shots were fired at the entrance to the bar.

“My beautiful Ellie Marlene, the love of my life, my best friend, will always shine, be beautiful and bright,” her father said in a statement read by a detective when she died.

Police had previously announced that a 30-year-old man from Tranmere, who had previously been arrested on suspicion of murdering Ms. Edwards, had been recalled to prison with a license.
