A woman was found dead at her home in Renfrew, Scotland, after her worried online playmates alerted police and her dog walker in Scotland.
As first reported by The Daily Record, 36-year-old single mother of two Lauren Black has not logged into the game. Evony: Return of the King For 48 hours, this caused online gaming friends from around the world to worry about his safety.
Eyal Elhadad, Black’s online friend from Israel, told the Daily Record that he called Scottish police after he suspected something was wrong with his friend, known online as VAL or ValkyrieSoar.
“Lauren and I have been talking every day for the past four years, so her not responding to my messages or logging into the game has worried me and other online family members,” she said.
She said she felt she was “behaving very strangely” and that they stopped texting and communicating from there on New Year’s Eve.
Unable to communicate with Lauren for two days, Elhadad contacted authorities in Scotland and the dog walker.
“As we were all so worried, I begged them to check it out. I just wanted to know you were okay.”
Black’s body was found at his home on January 3 by a dog walker.
Black is reportedly loved by his family and online friends. According to Elhadad, many of Lauren’s in-game friends hope to travel to Scotland to attend her funeral in person.
“I was devastated when I found out he died. I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it. There are hundreds of people all over the world crying over his death right now. it was incredible.
“Many of us would like to pay our respects. People are willing to travel hundreds of miles to say goodbye to Lauren. She is loved and admired.”
Lauren’s uncle, Ivan, who is helping to care for their twin sons, told the media he “didn’t believe what had happened”.
“It is very difficult to accept and we know that dealing with what happened will have a long road ahead of us. Lauren is completely devoted to her children and our family’s priority right now is to make sure they’re okay.”
Her mother, Iris Black, also reportedly said she was “beyond devastated by what happened”.
Police are still investigating the currently “unexplained” cause of Lauren’s death.
“We were informed of the death of a woman at a property on Edgar Crescent in Renfrew at around 10:10pm (GMT) on Tuesday, 3 January,” a spokesperson for the Police of Scotland told the media.
“Death is considered unexplained and investigations are ongoing.”
